The Somerset Coal Canal is predominantly rural and so while restoration is relatively simple the land is mostly in private ownership and making the case for how it will benefit people is much more tricky.

For the Somerset Coal Canal we are working with landowners to secure the land, then begin to build up a colourfully woven tapestry of environmental and tourism benefits while drawing on the people power of their huge social media following – as the rural population is much more spread out they too need places to access nature, volunteer and meet other people who care about their environmental and industrial heritage.
