Jack of all trades, Master of some... With time served in multiple areas of the engineering/construction domain I have both enjoyed and at times endured a varied career.

At 19 I embarked on an apprenticeship within a company based in my little hometown of wisbech cambridgeshire that took me around the world constructing and maintaining beverage packaging plants, this gave me an ability to deal with difficult and challenging situations and instilled a deep resilience and work ethic that I will forever have the utmost gratitude for, because of the confidence and self reliance I developed as a result of going out into the world as a young man to enthusiastically overcome all of the obstacles that presented themselves to me as a direct result of this kind of career choice. It certainly made a man of me..... between then and now however I have over the years lent harder into using my engineering skills on projects that are closer to my heart personally than those which would keep me in the heavy engineering sector because as interesting as it can be to go down a mine or be in a quarry what i really am lit up by are interesting buildings both ancient and brand new and all of the elements of skill and knowledge that are required to bring them into being by the people that have and continue to create and keep them alive. Buildings pulsate with the energy of their creators, contributors and inhabitants and it is a privilege to spend time working in places where you can get a felt sense of that and also feel that you're leaving behind a bit of yourself in the process of carrying out quality workmanship. I have had the honour of fabricating and installing spiral staircases in grand designs featured properties like the one themed on an aircraft hanger to working on ultra modern installations being blended into heritage infrastructure, and I can take great satisfaction seeing historic buildings being utilised still today beyond their original purpose. And to carry out these projects with the strongest sense of sympathy and respect for the original fabric and setting whilst bringing something of me to the here and now of it all is very purposeful and rewarding as we of course live in a time where our heritage needs to be brought into alignment with current demands and challenges but also with the vision of how we move into the future and that for me is a worthy cause to put effort into finding balance around. I also really enjoy bringing people together to undertake a commitment and love to see collaborations come to fruition and what can be made manifest as a result of ideas being shared. I advocate for honest communication and try to make myself available at all times for all people both in my professional and personal life because it is my belief that with truth in action humans can come together and achieve amazing things. And then there's the not so relevant stuff like how i enjoy running and yoga and motorcycles and our campervan outings and all that jazz. If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
